Since qualifying as a Psychotherapist, I have been fortunate to have worked with individuals, and couples from a large variety of backgrounds situations and cultures. I have worked through an agency, the Health system and in Private practice. I enjoy working with people and hope that together we can work with any emotional and relational distress present. In addition become mindful of thought processes, and life patterns/behaviours, as this can assist with development of new potentials and enjoyment of life.
I mostly work with individuals and couples in medium to long term therapy, as well as some short term work. Issues I often work with are, depression , anxiety, stress, grief/loss, early childhood loss, sexual abuse, Trauma/accidents, low self esteem, shyness, identity issues, life changes, and relationship issues. I am ACC registered.
Before and since qualifying I have been equally influenced by a commitment to life-long learning, former interests, and many important life experiences. I regularly attend workshops, seminars, and stay aware of current issues through New Zealand Association of Psychotherapy meetings, and supervision.
My approach as a Psychotherapist is integrative and guided by my studies of Psychotherapy, Psychology and Education. Modalities include Integrative Gestalt, Psychodynamic, Psychoanalytic, TA, CBT, DBT, and Attachment theories. How I work depends on factors unique to each individual, and I am very much focussed on the here and now.
