Dreams have always been a source of fascination and wonder throughout different cultures and ages. Freud referred to them as the ‘royal road to the unconscious’. Exploring dream material can prove both fun and insightful. Even today we understand that dreams give a unique window into the most basic level of mental functioning, providing a way to explore our most basic hopes and fears and primary ways of being and relating.
Dreams and nightmares are often incredibility dense with meaning and metaphor and it is not unusually for the examination of a dream or even a dream fragment to take up most or all of a session. Even those who dismiss dreams as meaningless may be amazed by what they discover when they take the time to look through this unique window of perception.
